Grandma's visit

Grandma came to visit for a few days while she had school vacation! Luckily, her vacation coincided with Evan's birthday, so it was an extra special treat for him.

I made a carrot cake for Evan since that's the only cake he's ever seemed to like, but he didn't want any. He doesn't like any sort of sweets. I wonder when that will change...

Happy Birthday Evan!!!

Our little boy is 2! Now when people ask how old he is we can answer in years instead of months =)
It's been so much fun watching Evan grow over the past year: from hesitant walking to running so fast we can't catch him, from words like "duck duck" to fairly complete sentences, from us running the show to him voicing his opinion and having it count.  He's loving and gentle (especially with Emma), smart as a whip, enthusiastic, curious, and has a great sense of humor. We are so proud of what a wonderful kid he is.

Apparently this is what happens when you're two and your parents are distracted by your baby sister. Note that he's flicking the light switch by himself, a newly discovered ability. Now every light in our house is on by 6:05am.

Today when I put Emma in her car seat to go to the store she got the biggest smile (which is odd because she really doesn't like being in the car seat). Of course, I couldn't get a picture of the smile in time, but I figured I'd post some of the attempts anyway!

I think this one is my favorite... that's my girl!

Evan in the snow!

Evan had a blast playing in the snow after this weekend's storm! He hasn't been out in the snow a whole lot, so he was definitely intrigued by it. He really likes snowmen, so the first thing he said when we got outside was "Where's snowman?". It was adorable. I'm pretty sure he thinks that snowmen just wander around outside in the snow. Anyway, here are some pictures of our snow adventure...

Pajama Day

Today was pajama day at Evan's school. I'm not sure why it was pajama day, but I'm all for any reason to stay in your PJs all day! Anyway, I wanted to get a picture of Evan in his pajamas and managed to get some cute ones of him and Emma. I had to put her on the couch so that I could take the pictures of Evan. Once that happened, he was like an ant to honey. He sure loves his little sister!

The astute observer will notice that Emma's bib disappears halfway through this sequence of events. I ended up taking it off because without fail, whenever I set up a picture where she's dressed up and looks cute, it never turns out well, but when she's propped in the corner of the couch with a wet bib it ends up on the blog.

I was going to put captions on these, but I think both of their expressions speak for themselves =)
