Morning at the Farm

Evan's class took a field trip to Flamig Farm and I went along as a "helper"! It's a good thing a few of us parents volunteered, because getting a group of forty 3 & 4 year olds to pay attention and not wander off to some other coop/cage/pen is a challenge!
I had such a great time. We went on a long hayride through the fields and woods. I think most of the adults and about half of the kids were falling asleep by the end of it, it was so relaxing.
Seeing all of the animals was lots of fun too. It was beautiful weather. And I got to watch Evan interact with his friends and teachers and saw that he is wonderfully well-behaved with his teachers and gets along really well with the other kids. I don't think he was just that way because I was there, but even if he was, I was really proud of him.
I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was herding children most of the time, but I did catch a few fun moments!

The sheep

Evan was right in the sheep's face when the sheep let out a huge BLEEEEEET. I think Evan jumped back about 3 feet!

Baby chicks! The farmer brought one of the chicks around so that each kid could pet it.

And the biggest bunny I've ever seen

More goats. Evan liked to touch their horns. Thank goodness the animals are used to little hands pawing at them...

Apparently it doesn't count as "climbing the fence" if you duck down below fence level

Evan REALLY wanted to check out this trolley but his group never got over to it, so we got to go see it while the other kids finished up with lunch

Evan's friend had her birthday party at a playground and it was cowboy/girl themed!

The party was at a playground we'd never been to but that's really close to our house. Evan loved it!!

Evan's turn at the pinata! He did a great job and really got into it. All the parents were smiling and cheering him on because he was the first kid to get up there and actually take some good swings at it!

Play dough! It was a good activity for a long Sunday afternoon. Evan ended up making something that slightly resembled Elmo at the end, so Emma was amused too

My little Angry Bird! Evan got an Angry Bird egg decorating kit, which apparently works just as well if you want to decorate yourself! Despite the face, he was very proud of making himself into an Angry Bird.
