Emma's dime!

Soooo, our lovable, curious, handful of a daughter decided that right before bed on a Saturday night at Grandma's house would be a good time to swallow a dime! She didn't do it on purpose, she was just playing with it while Daddy put her diaper on for bedtime, but somehow it fell down into her mouth and despite Daddy's attempts to get it out, it was swallowed.
I guess we're lucky that we had no previous experiences with coin swallowing, but that also meant that we had no idea what to do in this situation. The pediatrician sent us to Urgent Care for an x-ray to make sure that the coin wasn't caught in her airway.
She was fine in that respect. So then it was just a matter of ensuring that the coin passed through her system. Three days of fiber-focused fun later, the dime was "retrieved" and we can breathe a sigh of relief.
Emma was very proud that the dime came out in her poopies! We had to toe the line between making it a lighthearted event so she wouldn't be scared, but also make it clear that this wasn't something exciting and cool that should be repeated.
Good times!

Before (well, more accurately - "During"). Emma was awesome for her x-ray. I was very proud of her (well, as proud as a parent of a coin-swallowing kid can be).

Dog!!

Grandma Jane got a new dog - Lucy! (maybe Lucie? not sure of the spelling, but we'll go with Lucy).
Evan is in love.
I think Lucy might be in love too.
Evan desperately wants a dog, so he gets so excited when he sees Lucy.
Emma, on the other hand, is terrified. She doesn't like dogs. But she did pet Lucy's bum at the very "tail end" (ha!) of our visit. She was so proud of herself for being brave. We were proud of her too!

"She's licking my face!!!"

Two pals, hanging out in the grass

Lucy loves the belly rubs!

Playing fetch!

This is an Emma "selfie" sitting on my lap. She would jump up into our arms whenever she saw or heard Lucy, but I think she'll get used to her soon enough.

Crayola World

On the last day of our mini-vacation, we took a bit of a detour and went to the Crayola Experience. The kids enjoyed it more for the playscape than for any of the crayon-related activities, but it was a fun thing to check out.
The kids loved all the "tablet time" that they got in the hotel room

Emma was terrified of Scooby Doo, but Evan was brave!

I've gotta say, the gift shop was pretty cool

Emma liked the smaller playscape

The dance floor was like a computer screen and the stuff moved when Evan stepped on it. He loved it!

He also liked this part. The crayon on the screen dances according to your movements

The larger playscape

The crayon river. Kinda weird, kinda fun. You float a big crayon down the river. Emma liked it!

Making melted crayon art

Evan on the second floor of the playscape!

"Yes mom, I see, it's a big giant crayon. Can I go back to the gift shop now?"

In front of the biggest real crayon ever! It was behind glass, otherwise Emma would have definitely peeled the paper off of it. It's one of her "hobbies".

Awww, our two little critters! So cute!
