Breaks your heart with cuteness

For the past two weeks, Jess and Ian had been visiting from Wales. They left last night, making this morning the first morning in two weeks that they weren't here.  Evan woke up and was into his usual morning routine, happy and laughing and playing. Over the final few days of Jess and Ian's visit, we had talked to him about their having to go home, so he knew they were leaving. Still, he was acting as if nothing had ever changed. Then, without any prompting, he brought the telephone to me and said, "Talk to Ian and Jess?"
