We had a wonderful day today! Evan and I went to the Natural History Museum (which he loves and has been asking to go to for weeks). Then Emma woke up from her nap to Evan and Grandma making a cake for Easter. We headed off to the beach after that. It was very windy, but Evan enjoyed running up and down the beach. Then we came back and colored Easter eggs. What a fun day!
Not sure which one is scarier!
Evan liked the skate. It kept swimming right up to him
We learned that Evan has the wingspan of a crow!
He's got a few years to go before he's a blue heron
But he's almost an osprey!
Emma kindly offered to taste-test the angel food cake frosting
This weekend Grandma Nancy came to visit and we had lots of fun! Auntie Erica, Uncle Mike, and the girls came over for dinner on Saturday (Evan and Emma LOVE when they visit). We went to the library and played outside. We had a great time!
Cousins playing
Pudding!
Brushing Grandma's hair
Evan likes to feed the toast crusts to the squirrels
We have a customer!
An Emma selfie
Evan showing Emma how to play a game on her tablet
Not sure what I'm doing here, but she's happy!
Playing outside in the mud!
Pretending that the mud is coffee
Jumping in muddy puddles just like Peppa Pig!
"Are you sure we're not going to get in trouble for making this mess?"
On Sunday morning I decided to make some cinnamon muffin melts. I don't think I even announced what I was going to do, but I had just gotten the muffin mix out of the cupboard when I heard two chairs squeaking over from the dining room to the counter, and there were my two little helpers climbing up and ready to go. Evan helped put the mix in the bowl, Emma added the water, and they both helped stir - which is basically them holding the spoon full of batter about 2 feet above the bowl and letting it plop back down in (mostly).
Then I think Evan figured the fun part was done and headed back to watch Shrek. But Emma hung in there and did a great job helping me fill the muffin tins. I was initially hesitant to let her do it until I realized she wasn't doing much worse than I did and she was having much more fun doing it! My first baking experience with my little girl :-) I hope there will be lots more!
